Search box is gone in lighttable, master branch

In version 4.8.x there is search box is between color mark ratings and sort by controls. In the master branch the search box is gone. Is it by design?

This search box is very convenient for me to show only particular files. For example, I have pairs of .ARW and .DNG files and want to process only .DNG. In 4.8.1 I can type dng in the search box, press Enter and see only .DNG files. In master I cannot do that anymore.

Am I missing something?

I think this would be the way to go for that … I update so often I don’t recall a search box in the LT view but perhaps there was one

You can create your custom rule and pin it to the toolbar

I am on the latest weekly build of V4.9 for windows and this search feature is still there.

I build from source code. Did not notice when exactly it happened, but as of a few days the search box is gone. Can it be my local settings or something?

4.8.1 built from branch 4.8.x. Notice the search box between color markers and sort box at the top:

Latest master branch as of now, the search box is gone:

I never use this, but it was missing for me as well. It was easy to get back, though. Click the funnel dropdown, then select “filename” in the files section to display it again:

Created a new collection filter based on filename, added .DNG for extension and it worked. Thanks a lot!

You can do the same for search and then pin that too… its one of the options for a new rule…

Maybe the reason it works for me is that in the distant past I have pinned it as a search feature. Just for the heck of it I decided tonight to add camera as a search option and pin it as search box. It works brilliant. I just tried it with a batch of images shot on a Canon R7. If I type R7 into the camera search box or Canon the images are found. If I type G16 another canon I own no images were found.
