Clarification: this is not a bug report. It is just a hope that someone will have a better memory than I have. You see, I know I have read about a fix – but I cannot remember where and the problem seems ungoogleable. Does anyone remember where the info can be found?
Ubuntu Studio 15.10, RT 4.2.950.
I edit a photo in RT. When I press the Send to Gimp button, Gimp 2.9.3 starts
(but does not receive the temp tif file) - and immediately after, Darktable 2.0.3 also starts
and the temp tif file opens in DT. Gimp will not receive the tif file until I close DT.
I guess that this is because some TIFF files are recognized by GIMP as RAWs, and with the recent introduction of the DT RAW loading plug-in then darktable gets invoked for opening those TIFF file.
I guess there is no solution yet until the GIMP code gets fixed, unless you want to completely uninstall darktable… some expert might give you a better advice on this point.
Thank you.
It helped to write about it: I finally found the reference I knew that I had read. It seems as if there is a bug in the dev version of The Gimp: as soon as you open a tif in Gimp, it automatically invokes DT.
Yeah, I just discovered this little quirk. Don’t know how I feel about it yet. I like DT quite a bit, but sometimes I just want the simplicity of good, old UFRaw.
Does that still happen? I thought that bug was fixed already. If it’s still an issue I would be glad if you could provide a sample TIFF that exposes the problem.
