So… Here’s the thing.
I’ve been trying SIRIL for a good while now and I finally managed to properly hack my PowerShot A490 from 2010.
The thing is that this camera is… Literally 14 years old and it is the only camera I have that has proper zoom lens that don’t ruin the image quality. After all these years, the sensor of this camera has some problems, including dead pixels.
I may be stupid but I can not understand how do I properly filter these with SIRIL. I have managed to make it register and stack my images but I can not make it filter all the trash that the old sensor provides. I’ve made master-dark capture with this camera and it has all those dead pixels in place clearly visible and now I don’t understand how do I filter them out before registering and stacking. “find_hot” command refuses to work with various errors like “find_hot must be applied on an one-channel master-dark frame” even tho I literally have the master-dark frame open. And if I simply apply the “master-dark.fit” on my sequence it will simply make the image COMPLETELY black with no trace of stars. Maybe that’s because the camera does some processing before compressing the image (the HQ compression overrides are in place thanks to CHDK) but when I feed DNGs to SIRIL it refuses to see all the color channels and does everything in grayscale. Not to mention that some DNGs with long exposure come out completely broken on this camera and not even CHDK can fix this, seems like compatibility issue.
Can someone please provide me a step-by-step guide on how do I use this old camera with SIRIL? I swear, I have tried everything I knew and I failed.
