[Solved] Edited duplicates always jump to the end of group

Working on a group of some just subtly different ‘filmic’ and ‘sigmoid’ duplicates of an image nearly drove me nuts, me obviously not beeing able to pic the right duplicates in lighttable for a side-by-side comparison in culling view. Until it occurred to me that lighttable fooled me.

I’m working with the official 5.2.0 AppImage – this is how to reproduce the behavior (w/ obvious differences between duplicates  ):

  • Add a new colored image to the library,
    make it black&white,
and give it 1 star in darkroom.

  • In the duplicate manager add a duplicate from the ‘original’,
keep it colored + rotate it heavily to one side,
and give it 2 stars in darkroom.

  • In the duplicate manager add a second duplicate from the ‘original’,
keep it colored + crop it heavily,
and give it 3 stars in darkroom.

This is what the duplicate manager looks like afterwards …

… and that is the lighttable view:

So far, so good and sound!

  • Now edit the middle 2-star/rotated image (a tad +exposure).
That’s what lightttable gives me: the middle image is pushed to the end of the group.

  • And finally edit the first 1-star/b&w image (again a tad +exposure).
And that’s what lighttable finally looks like, you guessed it?

I tried hard again and again, back and forth but every edit pushed the just edited duplicate to the end of it’s group. The duplicate manager, however, always showed the correct order of 0=1-star, 1=2-stars, 1=3-stars duplicate (see above)

Is that a bug, or didn’t I simply not find the relevant explanation for this behavior in the manual?

What sorting order have you set? Last edit?

You mean this, right?

yepp, If it’s filename this behaviour is strange.

Are you maybe sorting by some time parameter oldest to newest??

Nope, see collection filters and ‘sort by’ …

Just speculating.

I could not replicate this strange behaviour on DT 5.3 windows.

Solved! Solved? This strange behaviour has simply vanished without any magic from my side. Maybe an OS update thsi morning did the trick or whatever …
