Spider Lily in the backyard

During a recent round of spring cleaning—prompted by strict instructions to clear out items I no longer use—I rediscovered my old Canon 350D with its 18–55mm kit lens, which I haven’t touched for more than 8 years. All it needed was a replacement battery (since the original Canon battery is no longer available). I charged it up, took a few shots, and decided to share them.

I’m pleased to report that the camera is still functioning well. The only issue is some visible spots on the sensor, which will likely require attention from a professional technician. Even so, it remains perfectly usable—much to the mild annoyance of the “great controller.”

I’m sharing one of the photos here for you to experiment with. Enjoy, and do let me know if there’s a safe way to clean the sensor, or clear the spots before I take it in for professional servicing.

Nice shot, and thanks for sharing. I use RT 5.12-372 dev, and just pre-toned with Michaelis Menton (in Selective editing), then a bit of noise reduction and then adjusted Contrast by Detail level.

Enjoyed this play… Thanks

This is my one click edit in DT. I have a style I use to start my editing with my Canon R7 and I just applied that style and made no changes. I like the dark look to bring out the flower.

Cleaning sensors can be easy. Buy a kit from online or camera store. It will include swabs. Just wipe the swab once only across the sensor. The single wipe rather than repeated back and forth action prevents scratches if there is grit on the sensor. I flip the wipe over so I get two wipes from a single swab. Only ever needed to do once on a Pentax and it worked marvels and was easy to do.

That is very pleasent. The scale of the scales works out just right for the petals.

Fascinating plant @PD1, thank for sharing. Everytime I open this thread I get a shiver down my spine though  .
