I am building a php jpeg scanner (all markers, exif data, code injection searches and stenography detection). I noticed that another format exists besides jpeg200 and newer formats: SPIFF Still Picture Interchange File Format. I cannot find any sample images or i am not using the correct keywords in Google searches (SPIFF sample images). I am hoping that someone has a spiff image that i can use as a basis for adding spiff support to my scanner.
lack of support is widespread, indeed, but it is not new. I believe it was documented in 1996 with ammendments in 99. I have checked all of my image editors and nothing encodes spiff. I do not know of a spiff encoder, therefore, i am hoping that someone actually has a spiff image for testing. I can read the specification and write the code but a test image is necessary to check for problems in the code.
Thanks for replying. Hopefully i can find a sample or an encoder.
I think the difficulty in searching for examples on the web is that, apart from general obscurity, they are likely to share the standard .jpg file extension:
I will try to contact Mr. Sneyers and see if he is able to help. Maybe he could even help me get a copy of the newer xl specification, which would be better than a spiff image.
meantime, i turned my focus to adding a jpeg2000 scanner. I’ve allready scanned markers and i am beginning to dissect the boxes. I’ll keep looking for a spiff image or an encoder along the way.
I appreciate the tips, Martbetz. Best wishes to you and your family
