Starnet & HaOIII extraction

I’ve been a Siril user for quite a while, but I’ve only recently downloaded the nightly to get access to the Starnet integration. I’m using build 9cfe797 on windows, although I also use the Linux version at times. I’m weird that way.

My question is how to use Starnet with the HaOIII extraction script. I’m assuming I need to remove the stars from both of the files, which I have done successfully. What I don’t know is what to do before I recombine after processing. Do I need to recombine the two star files and then combine that resulting file with the combined starless image? I shoot OSC, so compositing isn’t entirely my strong suit.

If there is a tutorial I need to watch, please let me know. I don’t have access to siril.org currently so I haven’t been able to determine if there is something there. I will do that when the site comes back. I’ve been watching Stefan Astro’s youtube videos and they are very helpful.

Hello! Are you recombining starless images with the original images or with synthetic stars? Do you know about the star recomposition tool in the development version?
I believe it would be quite similar to create a starless and a starred color image and compose them or to compose them in mono and create the color image with the results. Maybe the first solution makes it easier to manage the white balance of stars and background. I’ve never tried it, I think you’ll need to experience these

The RGB composition tutorial is not up-to-date anyway. You can either use the rgbcomp command or the RGB composition tool from the GUI, putting twice OIII in it (or assigning it a cyan color once), for HOO composition.

Good luck!
