I noticed this in the 1.2.0 beta2 and its still there in the 1.2.0 rc1 version. When I open an 8bit image it shows correctly but as soon as I attempt to apply a command eg. GHS, the image goes black and this seems to be because its scaled to a 16bit image now (the slider at the bottom now shows 65535 instead of 255). If I click the slider it fixes itself and goes back to 255.
I get this behaviour on the Mac Silicon version. Havent tested on Linux yet. Has anyone else noticed this behaviour?
Trying to apply GHS on 8bits images is definitely not a good idea. You don’t have enough dynamic to get something good.
So I think there is a bug ok, but this is not a good idea to do it.
I just mentioned GHS as an example. I get the same behaviour using Asinh & Histogram transform tools as well. Thanks for looking into it Richard.
EDIT: I also checked with a 32bit image and it works fine and that probably because the slider still remains at 65535 and continues to display it at that resolution??
But same speech for asinh. In fact all processing algorithms should not be applied on 8bit images. But on 16 or 32bit stacked image.
