Very nice photo. I think a sunset should reflect the mood of the evening. That’s why I developed it to be less bright.

That ‘fog’ is most likely from an exposure adjustment mask that failed to caused the increased exposure bleed over into already brighter parts. I would guess it comes from tone equalizer.
While one can recover a lot of shadow detail, one does not have to do so. If you remove the contrast between light and shadow, you make the image look flat (no global contrast). Then, to recover it, people often add lots of local contrast and saturation, but I think that leads to images that look ‘HDR-ish’.

Thank you for your kindness. It’s a great photo, a joy to look at and work with. The sun roll-of is thanks to @kofa’s AgX; the sky I struggled more; I selttled for color lut, which was illustrated so greatly in one of @s7habo’s videos, who makes using it look easy.

So I decided to do two edits. The only difference is the top one is using sigmoid and the bottom one is using AgX. I love AgX but I do sometimes feel Sigmoid is worth a look with sunsets. Two great tone mappers to choose from.
