Switching from RT to ART

Hello,
I am using RT so far. Now I’d like to try ART. Is there a way to convert the pp3-files to arp? I don’t want to loose all my settings.

Florian

Hi, if you just change the extension the common settings will be picked up. However, this would only work for the subset of tools that are shared by the two apps, and even then there might have been incompatible changes in the meantime, so there’s no guarantee that this will work in all cases. But you can at least give it a try…

I already have tried this. With renamed pp3-files from RT 5.11 this displays only a black picture in ART.

Hello Florian, can’t reproduce that black image, instead ART reads the pp3 file after renaming to arp well.

I opened a photo in RT 5.11 and in RT 5.11-dev, set exposure compensation to 2 and in the color tab I checked Film negative. Then I export this profile to name.pp3, rename that one to name.arp, start ART, open the same photo and load the name.arp profile. Both exposure compensation and Film negative are there so the profile was well read. And no black image but an overexposed negative!

Hi all,
If I had to make this migration, I would try this:

  • duplicate an image previously developed with RT
  • develop this duplicate with ART, trying to reproduce the same steps
  • compare the .pp3 and .arp files, to find out how the parameters are named, the structural differences between the 2 files, etc.

Maybe an expert in text file manipulation could design an adaptation script.
