Siril 1.2.0 commit 2405ff9 on Windows 11
I initially assumed this was a FAQ but have found nothing so I’ll ask. Is there a way to prevent the (presumably STDERR?) terminal that opens when Siril is launched?
Thanks.

No. This is done on purpose.
Closing the window will close Siril too.
Yeah, tried that…
I don’t remember the previous version opening a terminal.
Thanks.
It is now mandatory because of third party software interaction.
So that’s not just a debug thing, it’ll always be there even on full production releases?
That’s right. This is the only solution we’ve found to fix a bug in the glib library we use.
Ok, thanks.

One other question - I don’t suppose it’s at least possible to by default minimize the window and hide it from the Taskbar?
Thanks.
This is how we did it. However, it seems it does not work on some machines and we do not know why.
Can’t you move it to an other virtual desktop? I do this with terminals in Linux to not having them in my way.
I haven’t tried that. I have only one desktop enabled* but maybe I need to create a “solitary confinement” desktop for such things… ![]()
* I used to keep several desktops but found they were mostly useful for losing windows… LOL
