The Alps, the moon and...

I took this one few days ago, during a stay in the Italian Alps. Tried to go for a minimalistic and abstract look:

Nikkor DX VR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
1/3s, f8, ISO200

Question: what is “…”? Venus? Were you facing due West?

Yes! The picture was taken approximately facing south-west. The following evening Venus was already too far from the Moon at sunset to get a decent framing…
