And my render, trying to turn it as close as possible to natural:

interesting shot once again, thanks for sharing. Here’s my RT 5.13 go… bit of pre-tone mapping and then some chroma and contrast plus a little red saturation.
Just a quick play DT5.7 xmp. Overcooked in my view. Playing with the contrast and texture module to work on highlights.

Spektrafilm 6x9 format, overexposed fuji c200 printed on endura premier, with some very minor tweaks.
The sidecar is from the nightly version of the flexi mask fork, but I think it may just work on a regular nightly build.
I find this image quite difficult. It is so abstract, that it is difficult to think of anything that is a reliably realistic interpretation of the scene, so it’s almost like “anything goes”. Here’s my attempt (probably to be redone later), using the various new cool toys like the masking revamp, contrast & texture, and color eq mouse scroll feature.
Very nice edit and actually quite realistic…
My re-do. I should have been more aggressive the first time. I try to take what the image is giving me, but in this case, it gave me a lifeless result (in my first post).
PS - What is giving the color of the blue stone? Copper ore?
According to: Visit Death Valley's Artist's Drive & Palette- Hidden CA
These colors are caused by the oxidation of different metals (iron compounds produce red, pink and yellow, decomposition of tuff-derived mica produces green, and manganese produces purple).
After seeing some very nice renders, I am now convinced that I should redo mine without pushing the red channel as much like I did…
