After 2 historically warm days we’re having a rather cold day today (around freezing this morning). Seeing a “bringer of spring” is rather welcome

Oh, what a magnificent creature… These things shut themselves up so very quickly fearing predators, so using 1/800 sec was great choice… thanks for sharing.
IMG_1687X-2.jpg.out.pp3 (11.6 KB)I tried to mute the leaves in the background and flowers in the foreground a bit, because the whole composition around butterfly is very distracting. Done with darktable and GIMP:

Thanks everybody for your contributions. Very good edits. Interesting, what kind of difference the crop & rotate tool alone is able to produce.
Definitely !
Yes they are simply beautiful, couldn’t resist. It was a lucky shot taken after my home-office lunch break. And to be fair: The short exposure time was chosen automatically by the camera to compensate for the long focal length of 600mm . But you are right: Only seconds after I fired my shot the main subject changed position and fluttered away. Never saw it again.
You made the butterfly glow in the dark. Cool and mystical interpretation.
