Unable to reset image time after applying an offset in the geotag module

When modifying the timestamps of photos as suggested here,

the new time is stored in the DB and the sidecar xmp file, but there is no way of resetting the time back to the original time stamp.

Even when deleting the entry

exif:DateTimeOriginal="2022:08:26 13:45:23.300"

in the xmp file and starting darktable, and then having darktable update the DB from the modified xmp file the time stamp is not reverted to the original one.

One can use “refresh EXIF” in the metadata tab, but this also resets ratings.
