We have a problem - what is it about Ansel and AP? (Edit - concern fully resolved via respectful dialogue)

I prefer reasonable abstractions.

darktable has a great mechanism in place already - the sliders that can be extened by rightclicking and entering “crazy” values manually. Pretty much the best solution for expert mode in image editing that there is, if touch interfaces can be ignored.

filmic is still a technical prototype with all controls laid bare for everyone - what would suit it well is an abstracted view on the things that AP created and thinks there is no need in polishing because he sees the math behind every single slider. But looked at it from an unbiased position that tool is a total mess in terms of UX/UI. Sadly I do too little image editing to get a good practical grasp on how that tool could be simplified. I’ve done it before for several tools/plugins in AfterShot, so I know what it takes. Alas, going to university at the age of 50 is still as demanding as it is for the young ones, so those hobbies have to wait.
