Weird behaviour digikam

Not just that I can’t see any thumbnails in the main window (while I can see them in calendar-view), I can now not right-click on an album and create a new album below it. (Getting: “Failed to create directory ‘file:///New Album’”).

Behaviour was there on 5.7.0 running on Arch and I updated Digikam to the git-version pre-5.8.0 without result.

Deleted and regenerated database, removed digikamrc file, checked permissions on drive (I can create new folders as user and the then show up in Digikam.

This obviously is not a digikam coding issue but some interaction with Plasma/KIO but I’m kinda stumped right now.

Can you launch digikam from a terminal and see if there is any relevant output?

Looks pretty benign to me - couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary. Hope you can!

Eek. I don’t see any problems. What updated on arch recently?

Have you tried the digikam appimage to see if you get the same behavior?

Great call! Never used appimages before. Screen fonts are weird but all of the thumbs are there in the main screen and new folders can be added/created in the album tree at will. The appimage therefore does not show the “weird” behavior.

Confirm then that it is some Arch-related issue, library update or similar - will wait for some further updates and see whether that resolves the issue.

Aha! I’m not the only one:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=232145

Glad it is working to some degree! That’s what’s tough about arch, those libraries are always changing.

Problem was located and related to a library update. A digiKam package update for Arch was released to address (temporarily) until the library is updated.
