What are you listening to?

And the OG from Flora Purim:

Ah cool. I didn’t know the source

I always love how these hip-hop artists find really obscure and cool stuff to play with.
Apparently the main riff in DJ Shadow’s Organ Donor comes from Tears by Giorgio Moroder.

Man if you don’t know about this website, you’re going to get lost for a few hours https://www.whosampled.com/DJ-Shadow/Organ-Donor/

You know, I had heard about that website but never actually used it. it’s so cool!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I took some time to listen to what you proposed.

Not my thing unfortunately, i need some kind of beat or pulse. I even tried to play “music for airports” at 2x speed, which is a bit better for me, but still not what i need too. Maybe shorter parts?

Doesn’t have to be recent stuff. I tend to explore the past (70s) a lot.
I tried Ikebe Shakedown but the brass section kills the mood for me. Though i have to say that Blue Giant and She’s knocking are good.
The Olympians are a bit too lively too, and unfortunately same thing for the brass.

@raublekick Air
Now that’s a name i completely forgot haha. Are they completely instrumental? Not that i don’t like vocals, it’s just that i’m making a “readabook” playlist. I have a truckload of songs that i would use but vocals interfere with my reading.
Nice selection indeed, i think like the 3, especially Boards of Canada. Gotta explore that part of the universe. Thanks.

@paperdigits I’ll have to listen to these two. Seems like they’re good from the Few minutes it listened to. (Endtroducing’s intro almost made me leave though
 And MF Doom scratches
i guess i’ll have to endure to see what’s next :p)
GYBE! : yes i thought about them too. I remember seeing them live in my old small town: It was fun, a small room with seats, and the drummer went in the alleys with his drum and turned around us during a quiet part. Really cool. That was more than 20y ago though :open_mouth:

@TonyBarrett wow long forgotten names from my “buy to try” era :open_mouth: Never got to listen to these 2. Sounds good. Mogwai makes me think of a Trip Hop Sonic Youth (Of which i’ve been a bit fan for 30+ years) at times. I guess i could use the SYR albums for reading too.
Will try that Ninja Tune Tube too.
I liked Bjork back in the day and always liked Play Dead, but i still prefer the original. She was fun in KUKL and the Sugarcubes.

Couldn’t find that particular song, but i’ll keepp looking.

Nice bassline (The OG is fun too). I like bassists and drummers.
But the only rap i listen to is Boo Ya Tribe and FNM’s “Another body murdered”. Beastie Boys “Sabotage”, i like a lot. I call it "Sabostach’ "

I now got a lot of options
Thans everyone. You can keep on posting stuff though  I like dark stuff.

Here’s some Cocco with 2 versions of the same song, but quite different too.

Live (2019):

And my favorite since early 2000s:

As you can see, nothing to do with what’s posted here, or reading :stuck_out_tongue:

Try Klaus Schulze or Tangerine Dream:

It doesn’t always have drums but it has a lot of percussive arps

Thanks. Until i’ve sorted all of this it’ll be Silent Hill’s Soundbox minus the songs  Funny, since i usually listen mostly to these songs.

Used to like Ultravox with John Foxx lyrics like ’ listening to the noise the machines make I felt the floor change into an ocean’

Morcheeba ‘love, love, love I’m a trigger hippie’ rates quite highly lyric wise

I may have mentioned that ignorance is Bliss for me on this subject so things have to be cynically commercial or played by my neighbors and waking me up for me not to like them

Recommend this currently

Can’t say I consciously listen to music for inspiration but it will have an effect

Here’s one that is so bad it’s good?! Good old university days. It is a single track recording where he runs out of steam by the end.

What about some electro swing?

If you’re looking for it’s so bad, it’s good then check out Bob Dylan’s Christmas album. The NPR reviewer said that only Bob Dylan could make “I’ll be home for Christmas” sound like a threat:

My favorite song from the game

An interesting mixture of ancient (William Byrd) and modern ( Arvo PĂ€rt)

Thanks for sharing. Arvo PĂ€rt is one of my favourite minimalists. Going to have a listen

Sadly, I am listening to Cleo Laine, who died today.
