Yes, there is plenty of garbage on Youtube, but there is also plenty of excellent material. You just have to look or search in the right places.
Just finished The Bear, which I find mind boggling that a series can be composed of so many montages, yet still be riveting.
Now watching Alone and Alone Australia.
I am obviously weird and eccentric because I am addicted to K-dramas and have been for years. I am always following a new series when one finishes. I hope to do a stop over next year in South Korea when flying home to Australia from Kazakhstan. I even love K-pop.
I watched the first two seasons of The Bear and it was great, but very tiresome to watch.

Recently watched Andor. I don’t follow SW at all but it was an okay series, especially the second season.
Now I am watching The Pitt, already on the second season. It’s pretty good but sometimes the script is too on the nose when it comes to social issues, it becomes a bit annoying, almost like I’m being lectured. They wrote some nice bits which also included social issues, but it was much more implicit instead of literally telling the audience(abortion, homeless, black prejudice, all done very well). Besides that it’s really good. I don’t know what it is about medical shows but they’re always very captivating.
Yes, it is quite intense.
Also a good show. American audiences are stupid, so there is a lot of telling in a lot of things now. It isn’t a subtle show tho, so it sorta fits for me.
I watched The Odyssey last night. Visually it was great, the score was great, but the dialog was pretty bad.
While visiting Copenhagen, I watched The Odyssey in IMAX. It was a but funny to see to what lengths Nolan had to go, to make IMAX film work for a movie: A surprising number of shots used an awkwardly long focal length, many dialogues were not shot/reverse shot, but two characters in one frame, the focus puller evidently had to work distractingly hard to make sense of the razor thin depth of field. It was also amusing to witness how Nolan combined an unsteady camera with enormously loud noise to try and infuse mundane sailing scenes with a sense of bad weather. Oh well, it was still a fascinating movie and a good watch.
Otherwise, I’m very slowly working my way through The Long Way Round, The Long Way Down, The Long Way Up, and The Long Way Home; where Ewen McGregor and Charley Boorman travel the world on motorcycles. They’re such intriguing slices of places and times, from 2006 Russia to 2010 Africa, 2019 South America, and 2025 Scandinavia. I’m trying hard to take my time with the show, as I love it so much, but I’m getting close to the end.
The question I don’t yet have an answer to in relation to The Odyssey, is “why did the filmmaker choose to tell this story at this particular point in time?”
Thus far, my answers is “distruction abroad is neglect at home” and that feels fitting for the US at this particular moment.
Currently I am watching the 3rd season of Silo. I almost didnt make it to ep.4, where things start to get back to the quality of the first 2 seasons.
Also, the wife and I just watched ep.1 s3 of Ted Lasso. We should have watched the s2 season finale before hand, as we forgot a lot of the storyline. There were a lot of “wait…why is this happening?” going on.
Margo Has Money Troubles is pretty good so far.
Widow’s Bay was well done and amusing, I guess.
I liked Sunny a lot.
Hijack was ridiculous dumb fun and Idris is always good. He should obv be Bond.
Murderbot was great with Alexander Skarsgard so good.
Favourite of all time is third season of Fargo. Just brilliant allegory of our times, IMV.
Lately catching up on This Is Going to Hurt with Ben Wishaw.
Charmed Season 4 and Gilmore Girls Season 1. I like the Wiccan feel of Charmed Season 1-3 and I loved how Shannon carried the show well, and rewatching Gilmore Girls for the memory though feels really outdated. I have watched Mean Girls and thought it was interesting from sociological point of view.
My wife and I have watched 7 of the 8 episodes of Drive or Die. It’s not great, but it is fun.
On the theme of music, I haven’t started watching this series, four years in the making, on YouTube yet but have heard very good things about it. This is the trailer. The rest of the series is already available.
Recently I’ve watched The Traitors UK, all seasons, and The Traitors UK Celebrity Edition season 1 (eagerly waiting for season 2). Currently watching Nation’s Dumbest US. Only the finest intellectual diet for me (I actually dislike Taskmaster due to it trying to be an intellectual game show of sorts).

I’ve recently started to enjoy short animated films on Youtube
I had the same impression. The visuals are amazing, reminiscent of the epics from the 50s and 60s. I especially liked the low DOF in wide shots, it had that satisfying medium format look. I think my screen had a 1.85:1 ratio, so a lot of vertical bits were shown, increasing the DOF look.
The dialog was horrible. Many times I was thrown out of it and immersion was broken “The bronze age is collapsing”, who wrote this crap?! 
I kept thinking “This would work so well as a silent film”.
Dunno if it was my particular cinema, but the sound was so loud it hurt my ears, I can’t believe that loudness is even legal, easily 110+db. I must have lost like 0.05% of my hearing from that film alone.
I watched Shaolin Soccer yesterday and It was a fun watch.
I can’t put it into words but it’s so nice to go back to something that doesn’t try to fit into standards, rather just goes out making interesting funky scenes with 100% Investment. I don’t know if anyone would seriously consider making something like that which feels sad but when it ended It felt so quick. It nailed the entertainment part for me.
Some things like the sky and the grass felt very…weird although it was shot on film.
I watched Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 this weekend. The 4K UHD picture is so excellent, I almost watched it again (run time is almost 3 hours). I did re-watch the first 30 minutes or so. Over and over as I was watching it, I thought, “So this is what filmic color grading is about.”
I wish they would release Chapter 2.
