What can normalization do?

What can normalization do?
When should I use normalization?
What’s the visual difference between additive and additive with scaling?

Hello.

Everytime you stack your lights.

Normalization allows the stack to be consistent. For example, when you start your session when it is not completely dark, normalization will help you having a consistent stack. Without it, the stack rejection will not be good. The same goes for the stack itself.

Additive is the operation that performs the median match of the images.
Scaling adjusts the scale so that the brightest image will have the same histogram shape as the reference after normalization.
