What damaged my sensor

I have a Minolta 5d that I haven’t used for about ten years and shot less than 5000 pics with it. It worked fine when I stocked it.

I tried it today with a mint battery. Whatever lens I mount, I get three purple spot along the upper edge of my shots. The smaller the aperture, the more pronounced the pattern.

What might have caused this considering I stocked it in a cool and dry environment.

Thanks

EDIT: I realize I left a battery inside… might have been this?

Did you check the sensor for spots?

To me, this looks more like a light leak, perhaps an internal reflection within the camera.

Thanks for your answers guys.

I cleaned the sensor but the problem persists.

After browsing for light leaks, I found the sensor circuitry can emit IR that will manifest along the sensor edges.

So cropping and using bias frames might be the way to go.

Take a photo in the dark and one in the light but with the lens cap on. That might eliminate light-leak as a possibility if the issue still happens in one or both situations.

Thanks Chris.

I did this and it happens in both cases, so it is not a light leak: heat remains the last candidate.

Raw Therapee dark-frame substraction tool cleaned the leak.

Thanks everyone.
