What's involved with adding support for new cameras

Update: Some of the information on this page is oudated. See the github wiki page on camera support for up-to-date instructions. Say you’re running darktable, you’ve just bought a brand spanking new camera and it’s not supported yet by darktable. Here is a list of things that need to be done (typically we’d recommend to check this before actually buying anything, often you’ll be able to find sample raw files online):

Hello,
I don’t known if it’s really to use this topic to ask support for new camera, but I don’t know where to ask that.
In fact it’s no really a ‘new’ camera … just an alias for an existing one.
I’ve bought a Panasonic DC-TZ91 which is , like TZ92 and TZ93, a new name for DC-TZ90 ( only slight differences in config menu ).
Simply adding a new alias for DC-TZ90 in rawspeed/cameras.xml does the job ( tested).
Is it possible to have this alias in ‘official’ cameras.xml ?
Thanks !

@nico2012 are there samples for this camera at https://raw.pixls.us? If not, please upload the sample set.

Thanks. !
Il will upload some examples asap (probably this friday or saturday). But tz-91 is a ‘renaming’ of tz-90, which already has 1:1 4:3 3:2 and 16:9 samples.

I noticed that the site states that there is still a need for Panny aspect ratio (AR) samples for the DMC-G5 camera. Do you want the image for each AR in a set? Anything else that I should know before I get started?

Hey & welcome! There are specific instructions on the page at https://raw.pixls.us – if any one that is unclearz please let us know!
