White balance and history stack in 3.4

I see that History Stack/Copy no longer includes the white balance, but this can be overcome by using History Stack/Copy Parts, then checking the white balance option.

When working with similar shots I prefer to use Ctrl +C within the Darkroom Film Roll to quickly copy an edit to another image, but this now works like the above Copy option and no longer includes the white balance.

Is there a workaround to make this happen?

Not a workaround but the good shortcut: Shift+Ctrl+C

As a reminder, you could also press ‘h’ to show a view of all possible shortcuts in current view (Alt+h for persistent view).

Thank you!

I’m sure there’s a good reason for this, but it feels like an unnecessary extra step right now.

Thankfully Shift+Ctrl+C seems compatible with a straightforward Ctrl+V

I see no unnecessary extra step here. Ctrl+C is for quickly copy/paste as a classic copy/paste you could see in all software. So to add the option to select which module to select (and keep the quick usual copy/paste thing), we have no other simple way to just add another key, like Shift here.

It’s not a big deal, but Ctrl+C suddenly means Copy Some, whereas in all software it simply means Copy.

Shift+Ctrl+C and THEN use a mouse to select the fundamental White Balance feels like an extra step to me, but as I say, it’s no big deal.

whitebalance was excluded since the result often didn’t match the expectations. if you’re copying whitebalance you’d better know what you’re doing so it’s more foolproof to force the explicit selection of this …

As I say above, I was sure that there had to be a good reason for this change.

I nearly always want to include the white balance, so I’ve remapped Ctrl+C to Copy Parts, which simplifies things slightly. This needs to be done twice.

The shortcut that is located under utility modules/history stack/copy parts only works in lighttable.

The shortcut that works in darkroom is located under views/thumbtable/copy history parts.

I initially struggled to find the latter because I searched shortcuts for 'copy parts’, whereas it’s called ‘copy history parts’.

I was just about to ask the same. For me it also feels weird to leave out the white balance by default. I kinda understand your reasoning behind removing this from standard ‘copy’ instruction, but from a user perspective it is very counter-intuitive.
That being said - I really love the new version! It’s amazing to see how dt changes and improves!

Also going forward with the changes in 3.4 WB should be set at either as shot or camera reference and color calibration does the WB adjustments so maybe really no need to copy it and you can copy the color calibration…At least this is how I understand and use it currently

If you update your WB workflow to the new color calib then your WB will always be camera reference ie D6500 or as shot for some cameras that have non std D6500 coefficients. THen the adjustments are done in color calibration which can be masked and used with multiple instances and copied so it can be way more powerful. I have found it amazing when you tweak the chroma of your illuminant to fine tune WB …you can really fine tune it if any of the presets or auto settings don’t work…
