I vote for expanding the range of tint if there is no problem with fooling the caculations under some other extreme illuminations … for example,
- test with underwater shots.
- check the CIECAM02 behaviour with these extreme tints … etc
Although this does not solve the primary reason RT calculates extreme temp/tints with IR which is the very different response of CFAs under IR (almost equal response of all CFA filters) compared to the response under D65 which is currently used for WB calculations.
What do you think about my proposal for the new extra option in colormanagement i.e. same as “no profile” but with the rest color management activated (currently “no profile” disactivates all color management). + push WB calculations to use this unitary matrix for it’s calculations.
