One thing I cant get my head around is why do reds seem to be so much deeper at the same exposure in spektrafilm compared to agx. For long I thought it is just how film works, but having tried ansel, the new filmic module also produces deeper reds at the same exposure so I am quite confused. The red in the plane is a good example for this
Spektrafilm does that a bit, yes, but I also found out that if I pull them down manually before, I get something “extra”
See the attached xmp in the original post, one of the color equalizers pulls the red out of the “digital” bright red towards a more “filmic” orange with +8 hue, -10 sat, -5 brightness.
Based the idea upon going through Herzogs Modern Color - some of the shots look like that - the more saturated the reds are, the more deep and orange they turn, so I do that too.
An easy enough edit in DT 5.6. I pushed the contrast slider in AgX a little to increase saturation. I love how the Chinese are making some nice and affordable lens to play with.
