@jdc youre right, i was talking about auto-matched Tone Curve in Exposure , but after checking again, i cannot reproduce this behaviour myself.
My bad: I was playing on Bring Life in a flat background - #10 by Jean-Marc_Digne which is a dng-file and the auto-matched tone-curve doesnt work with any version. Its just strange that an applied manual curve is reset by this button, but thats not your concern.

I added a section to the tutorial.
With a very simple command of “Ciecam Cam16” you can get an almost good image.
In "Source Conditions, change “Surround” from “Average” to “Dark”
I completed with 2 actions:
- check the box: “Smooth highlights”
- increase “Contrast J” a little in “Image adjustments”

Two news:

For some time now, I have found that this “lacam16n” branch had a behavior in colorimetry that was curious to say the least.
After a long investigation, I found the culprit, me. I added 2 lines of code (why? when?..) which served no purpose other than to be disruptive. I deleted them and now everything works as before. -
I added a functionality in “Source Data Adjustments” to the “Log encoding” function.
a) A “Strength” (default 80) slider which allows you to adapt the algorithm to the desired effect.
b) This tool should be reserved for extreme cases that can’t be solved any other way. This is because the way they are rendered can be unpredicatable and often disturbs the balance of light and colour.
