ART vs Rawtherapee

Much faster for me in general when moving through images while in the editor (~5 seconds, maybe a tad less).

However, in the browser the sort order is a bit unexpected.

Note itā€™s set to filename order, but it sorts with two outliers up front:

IMG_1337.CR3
IMG_3564.CR3
IMG_0343.CR3
IMG_0607.CR3
IMG_0855.CR3

ā€¦and correctly thereafter.

Do I need to hang onto this zip or will you make an official release?

Thanks.

I need to understand what is going on before a new releaseā€¦

Just to rule out any weirdness in the files they sort correctly in other contexts, for example here in XnView MP:

2022-09-25 16_02_58-Clipboard

ā€¦and so forth. 0343 is the first file as expected.

Thanks.

Uh Albertoā€¦ donā€™t waste your time. Thereā€™s something weird going on with my instance.

i launched the 1.16 release version and it sorted correctly except now it puts IMG_0343.CR3 (only) dead last when sorted by filename. I changed the sort order to a few others and back with the same results. But after I renamed my personal folder and relaunched, it sorts correctly. Weirdā€¦

So something is going on with my installation. Iā€™ll have to track that downā€¦

Hereā€™s a new candidate, again for windows. Can you test whether the jpeg refresh problem is still there? Thanks!

Fixed for me :+1:

Works like a charm nowā€¦ what was the issueā€¦ simple I hopeā€¦ nice work tracking it down in any eventā€¦

Thx

Thanks for the tests. Iā€™ll make a new version then

Thank you for fixing thingsā€¦

Is this still intended?

I did try, I didnā€™t see anything obvious, sorryā€¦

Ok. I thought it was interesting If there would be a difference on my side, since you couldnā€™t reproduce the slow browser with 1.16.X.

That makes sense indeed. Iā€™ll see if I can upload a binary

Iā€™ve just found out, that gaanedā€™s latest dev build (1.16.3-3-g6dc6f21bf) doesnā€™t suffer from this issue, while his 1.16.3 stable had it too.

gaaned release:

gaaned dev:

.

6dc6f21 reverted thumbnail.cc change due to glitch in the file browser (issue #267)
fc16d60 trying to improve the (perceived) responsiveness of the file browser

Maybe there is some hot stuff in these ones.

Hmmmā€¦ I donā€™t see anything ā€œsuspiciousā€ changed since 1.16.3. (Or actually, I did change one thing but then I reverted it because it was causing regressionsā€¦). Are you sure the toolchain has not changed in the meantime?

I donā€™t build myself, I have no clue about that. @gaaned92 may tell us.

Iā€™ve built the current master with my local toolchain. If somebody is willing to test it, it would be quite helpful. Just unpack and run:

Iā€™m afraid I canā€™t report anything outstandingly good.

Thanks. Considering this is essentially the same as @gaaned92ā€™s version, I suspect the slowness is due to some different library or compiler versionā€¦ Iā€™ll see if I can upgrade msys

Letā€™s try again ā€“ Iā€™ve updated my msys2 installation. Hereā€™s a new build to test:
