I had an idea, this is very “western” audience oriented as we read from right to left, but moving the leading line to go from bottom to top, to my mind ends with the berries rather than the eye leaving the frame.

While a good idea, my brain is trying to parse the growth direction.

 who’s to say that this wasn’t a lower branch weighed down with berries?

I really like this photo. The focused branch pops out, like 3D.

I think this is my favorite so far, you managed to get the berries to a nice brightness without the other highlights looking unnatural

My take: PhotoFlow → G’MIC → Enjoy!

Using your xmp I get this:

Turning off local contrast 2 I get this:

I am using dt3.3, but maybe not your update:
darktable-3.3.0+1407~gb5ac3dc25-win64.exe.

You might even be using Linux.

@Underexposed: If I load pphoto’s xmp it looks exactly like his post.

I’m on darktable 3.3.0+1729~gc81f80f3d and use Debian (10/buster).

Many, many PR’s have been merged the last few weeks, features and changes alike. This due to the 15 November feature freeze. Which in turn is now in place for the X-Mas 3.4 release transition.

So it might just be possible that your development version is “out-of-date”.

Could you try making everything except the blueberries black and white?

Filmulator handles the harsh lighting easily.

This is all default except 64 drama and 0.747 white clipping point.

Beyond my skill level in RT 5.8 to mask only the blue berries, the shadow of them has a green tint so the mask misses in the current colour toning module, though in RT 5.9 I believe there are better masking/ selection tools.

Thanks, Jacques. I hope Christmas comes early this year.
