Hi!
Before getting started, I’m just gonna point out that this is probably a very stupid question (namely, one of lacking dependencies), and I’m sorry if it’s such.
I’ve used ART since first finding it, as it’s fast, complete and quite stable (for my standards anyway), and it serves me perfectly.
For me, it has worked in Windows 10 and 11, Fedora 34 and 35, and Arch, yet I can’t get it to work on Solus 4.3.
Hardware specs (in case necessary, as they are quite poor)
Intel i5-3427U
Intel HD 4000 (no dedicated graphics)
8GB DDR3 @1333MHz (running on the 2 channels)
Here’s the error:
Any and all help is appreciated, thank you!

Hello, that might indeed be a dependancy problem. Try an AppImage to see if that works better.
Regards, Paul.

Thanks!
(un)Funny how I tried that AppImage before posting and it worked fine, now it posts the same error message as the Linux build…?
Edit:
Just to make sure GLIBC was up-to-date, and all perms were correct, I tried this and it also didn’t work.

Hello, that’s strange as an AppImage is a kind of container that holds all the dependencies needed. Afraid I can’t help you further at this point…
Perhaps others can provide a solution to your problem…

Yeah, I thought so too, that’s the point of AppImages…
Thank you so much for taking your time, regardless!
Have a wonderful day!

@Diogo Hmmm – I wonder whether it might be something similar to this?

#### Your system information
* Steam client version (build number or date): 1… 626824053
* Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Arch Linux
* Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
* Have you checked for system updates?: Yes
#### Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
After upgrading freetype2 2.10.4 to 2.11.0 I cannot access the store, library or game properties and is instead greeted with a black window. I get the following error in the console:
```
./steamwebhelper: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6: undefined symbol: hb_ot_tags_from_script_and_language
```
I also tried latest git master of freetype2 but I still get the same error.
Downgrading to freetype2 2.10.4 works, but is obviously not preferred. [Full log](https://gist.github.com/4ff5306509f1fd596f5f97f579ed4058)
#### Steps for reproducing this issue:
1. Install freetype 2.11.0 or higher
2. Launch Steam and try access the store/library/game properties
3. Get a black window and `./steamwebhelper: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6: undefined symbol: hb_ot_tags_from_script_and_language` in console.
Have fun!

I’ve installed all packages related to freetype2 (not pictured here), and it seems to still be happening.
Since I don’t think I can downgrade packages, on Solus, I’ll try booting a VM of another Linux distro and test it there (checking the freetype2 version first).
Thanks!

FYI, Art 1.12 works well on my Xubuntu 20.04.3. Other standard distros with standard WMs work as well.

Which version of freetype2 do you have? Is it 2.10.x or 2.11.x?

That’s probably why it works. 2.11 seems to have broken something (maybe 2.11.1 fixed it, but I’m stuck in 2.11.0).

I’m running ART on Arch which currently uses freetype2 2.11.1 - works fine.
