Film vs. Digital: Can You Spot the Difference?

Does this vary a lot with film stocks, development, etc? I’ve always heard that 35mm has a theoretical limit of 12-15 stops, and then large formats even more.

Edit: didn’t notice you said ‘color film’ specifically

Frankly, if I just looked at one image and not a comparison, I would not be able to say if it is film or digital. If the sensor has at least 12 bits of depth and there is no obvious clipping, it can be developed like film easily.
