@DanielLikesDT , I started with this:
DSCF8856.tif.out.arp (14.2 KB)
In ART I used:
CTL Script: RGB sigmoid curve - #2 by yasuo from @yasuo ,Tetrahedral color warping (HSL) and the Channel Mixer to get rid of the blue color.
I also used Log Tone Mapping to get the flat result without clipping.
In GIMP I used Colors>Tone Mapping Stress (radius 3116, samples 20, itterations 30) to get the stressed result. I mixed it with the original to reduce the effect.
Then I used a copy of the first layer ART image and with Transfer Colors [PCA] matched it with the last result and blend (Normal )the result with the last layer. This also reduces noise.
Thereafter in G’MIC a little bit modified Tune HSV Colors ( so I can also use negative values). Here used the first sliders (dark and light) in standard setting. I further used only the average remap sliders with 100% Target Hue, about -200 Target Saturation and I changed the Target Value to darken the image. This is the cause of the orange color. It also seems to remove the transparency of the stones(?). Are the stones transparent?
Then again Transfer Colors [PCA].
Then I used G’MIC Contrast Swiss Mask and DCP Dehaze and blend a little bit with the last layers.
I also used G’MIC Iain’s MS Patch Chroma, Smooth Anisotropic (as external guide for>) Iain Noise Reduction 2019, Local Variance Normalization, Mixer [PCA] and Curves.
I hope this explains it a little bit.
