Thanks for the review! A lot of stuff to look at (if I can reproduce that screenshot bug, I’l see if we can fix it)
To the point about whether we’ll switch to shorter release cycles: We’re trying our best!
We’ve specifically held off on merging any new features, as we’re focused on getting a 3.0.2 bugfix release out in the coming days. The 3.2 roadmap also looks like this: GIMP Developer - Roadmaps
Two items, both already in develpment with working results. This fits with what we mentioned in the 3.0 release notes. There will probably be bumps along the way, but I think we’re headed in a good direction.
The UX contributors are also looking to ramp up things. During 3.0 development, they started collecting feedback and discussing smaller changes like this. Once a design was finalized, we implemented, tested, and merged. Now that 3.0 is out and we don’t have to worry as much about transitioning people both to a new version and a new layout, we’re hoping to start making bigger design changes. We’d definitely like more voices in the design discussions, so feel free to join in!
As for funding, Jehan said on IRC he’s taking the next few days to really get that worked out, now that the pressure to release 3.0 is over. So more information on all that should be coming as well.
