Help me upgrade my graphics card aka do I really need a new one?

I upgraded from a Gtx 770 and my new card needed half the power of my old one

It’s a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot. I have a modular be quiet power supply 750 W. So it should be fine.

I read that the Ada Lovelace generation is overpriced and underwhelming. So I’m not sure about that but I also have no idea about Nvidia

Another question for the Nvidia people. Does a Ti help for darktable or can I just save some money here?

1660-Ti here (and a Ryzen CPU).
I use Nvidia proprietary drivers
which work just fine with openCL &c.

Benchmark (arecibo.orf) clockings:
1.554 seconds with openCL
3.687 seconds without openCL

As always if you have more than 25MPix, memory is more important than clock speed in dt as tiling is a heavy penalty.

Ti is usually more cuda cores and more memory, so yes it should be better than the standard version of a card. Whether it helps enough to justify the additional cost is debatable.
