This is a good idea, I will look into it, thanks for the suggestion. I’ve been reluctant to spin up VMs because my server is more or less puny and I wanted to go container only, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
I will give it a try and see how it is on resources consumed. I too use frigate and it would be awesome to have the HA integration to send me notifications on object detection, or even turn on the lights when it detects movement, etc.
I’ve been using it for six years, and I can not say the same. I’ve spent a lot of time fixing things that broke, changing things that were deprecated along the way.
I use the docker container, and all the “addons” are also docker containers. A bit more setup work, but it all runs on my large server.
I run mine in a rp4 for a few years. I had plans to move it to a container in my server, but I keep delaying the effort since the RP4 is working fine without issues.
