Is a hybrid camera important to you? Do you regularly shoot and edit video?

All right. I thought about it but assumed that understanding would be worse. Also, these ai voices are so good sounding.

Great video, having the audio (wind, seagulls) adds a lot to conveying the atmosphere of the place. I would have liked to have more time for watching the individual stills, thought (some really nice photos in there!).

Thanks. I agree - i tried to slow down the pace as much as I could but I am not a good video editor ;-). The main problem is that I choose the music first and that decided about the overall length of the clip. Whatever - these kinds of clips are more like pieces of memory for me that I can share with family and friends for me rather than artwork. (But I should use my own voice - I agree).

I haven’t been keeping up with the thread very much so I don’t know if this was mentioned – I record videos only every now and then, but the thing that discourages me from recording is CDAF as an only AF option (I think it’s almost on all Nikon DSLRs…). As a result I only take video where I don’t need to change focus or I manually trigger the AF with a button when I need to refocus.

I wish there was dual-pixel AF or something similar. I heard Canon DSLRs usually had better video AF which is something I’ve always been jealous of a little

I actually went for a video centric stilla camera when i upgraded from my old Canon 5D mkii (which i have used as a hybrid) and bought a Sony A7S iii. So yes video functions has been a high priority for me. A funny selling point for the A7S iii was its high quality oversampled HD video :upside_down_face: to save some hard drive space and make it easier to edit. Most higher resolution cameras uses a lot of pixel binning for downsampling which destroys video quality.

I think it would be weird to not include video on still cameras as its just many still pictures in a row, no extra hardware required really. What surprises me through is that there isnt any cameras with slow read out sensors that are optimized for dynamic range. Like 20-bits analog to digital converters with electron well sizes to match. Base ISO 6*? Essentially dont worry about burst rate or rolling shutter, and only offer basic pixel binned video. Design a matching ux for a slower photo experience.

  • Me assuming this is physically possible. Modern sensors are already photon noise limited on the high ISO side but a lower iso would mean storing charges of more photons which seems more like a electronics design thing.
