Lensfun, Exiv, Windows

The distortion correction parameter for your lens seems weak, but I don’t own the lens. If you just want better distortion correction, you can easily create it by taking one picture and load it in Hugin.

When I get around to it, I intend to do what’s needed for the real fix: take the pics (including with diffuser) for lens profile (which appears to also correct for distortion correction), upload them (as a contingency into Hugin also), and thus have the lens included in exiv2/lensfun.
For now I’ll live with the workaround.

Peter, we exchanged emails in January of 2023 and you helped me resolve a problem I had with the Lens Correction module/lensfun not recognizing my Nikon 55mm MicroNikkor. In short, you sent me an slr-nikon file which helped resolve the issue.

I recently upgraded to dt 4.6.0, copied over the slr-nikon file you sent me, and now find that whereas I don’t have a problem with the 55mm, Lens Correction/lensfun does not recognize my 105 mm/2.5 (a manual lens). It used to before. Now, for every pic I take with that lens, I have to manually select the lens via the menu in the Lens Correction module. Would you know why? and how may I fix it?

I posted the below in the dt forum…

[This is a lensfun/darktable issue so please excuse my post and query here.]

About a year ago, with dt 4.2, lensfun/darktable did not pick up my Nikon 55 mm MicroNikkor. Folks here helped me obtain an slr-nikon file (a MSFT Edge HTML file). Per their instructions, I copied that file over to the C:\Program Files\darktable\share\lensfun\version_1 folder, restarted darktable, and it fixed that problem. I was told I’d have to copy that file every time I upgraded dt.

I upgraded to dt 4.6.0 this morning. I copied over the slr-nikon file as explained above.
Now I find dt/lens correction module doesn’t recognize my Nikon 105mm/2.5 lens.
So, for every pic with that lens, in the lens correction module I have to manually select Nikon, scroll down to that lens, select it…

What do I need to do to have dt/lens correction automatically select the 105mm/2.5? In so doing, I don’t want to lose dt/lens correction’s ability to recognize pics taken with the 55mm Micro Nikkor. [I’m unable to attach the slr-nikon file to this message as the file type is not supported for attachments]

Write @Peter next time to notice me. I almost didn’t see your post this time.

Would you mind uploading a raw file taken with your 100/2.5?

I suppose it is this lens?
