lineart parameters

hello.
I’m playing with the lineart (smart coloring) plugin in gimp_gmic and was wondering if the parameters are clearly described somewhere … ?
essentially I don’t understand the difference between “splines” and “segments” in the connection parameters
also I don’t clearly get what the globals “Contour detection%” and “contour erosion” does.
