make yourself a (not so) compact camera

For whatever reason I feel very free when using the Ricoh, I try a lot of different things that I’m not sure I try when I’m out with my large kit. The GRiii just doesn’t feel “serious” to me (in a good way) and I’ll happily snap things I never would. This has resulted in some interesting photos (I hope).

Its an interesting mental switch.

Will it still be a day-1 buy if the lens is a 26mm like the GRIIIx rather than 18mm?

The GRIII is almost 6 years old, and I would be very surprised if a new one isn’t released in 2025. Maybe not the first quarter, but surely sometime next year. I guess it all depends on whether they can solve their supply chain issues.

My introduction to micro 4/3 was with a gx85. I probably would have been happy with only that for a while longer if it weren’t for my kids putting off sonic booms when I try to photograph them…

I don’t want to admit out loud how far I’ve gone down the Lumix rabbit hole since then, but the little gx85 got use as recently as yesterday. The rear dial no longer works, which half cripples the camera for me, but I would be baffled for how to replace the camera these days.
