My fun with Darkable and GIMP
I have made a second version…
trying to correct the artifacts.
I think that the cause of the artifacts, has been pa first instance of tone equalizer that was in multiply mode.
Then I moved other modules to balance the picture.

On this one I tried to keep the sharpness and not fight the grain but make it fine-grained.

I tried my best in RawTherapee and I think I got pretty good results.
My first editing being night landing is to keep nightly atmosphere so with auto-curve I added only +1 EV and increase shadows and midtowns and used local contact.
I tried to increase lightness of only plane and some backgrounds.
I did two versions with noise reductions Luminance value 25 and 35 and details recovery 20 for both.
One is leaving some noise but a little and other is trying to remove much of noise without removing too much details.

Just for fun, and not improving on the noise situation!
Aiming at testing an underexposed film looks with strong halation typical of Cinestill 800T.
This picture was kind of perfect for testing halation on the runway lights since the shot was heavily underexposed with tons of highlight room.
Still heavily denoised with darktable before the film sim
