[OT] Photo Book in Scribus: How to Make Use of Master Pages?

There is a setting for this in the properties window.

If you are referring to the “to frame size” option: No, this is exactly not what I want, since it scales such that the picture is entirely inside the frame, leaving borders when keeping the aspect ratio and the frame aspect ratio does not match the image’s.

Hm, too early, there are still two issues that prevent scribus from being the perfect[TM] photo book tool:

  1. Scripts cannot be bound to keys, which I learned will be changed with the new “scripter” that may be released soon. But more important, one of the biggest show stoppers that is really hard to work around:

  2. Vertical text alignment is entirely missing. This would be really needed to align text to image frames. And no, the alignment tools are not a replacement, for several reasons, e.g. this totally circumvents the template idea from the scrapbook.

If you set the typography to the baseline grid and snap the frame to the it you’re set no?

Unfortunately not. See the example below. The template has a text box at the lower right of the image, but it is not possible to align the text to the bottom of the box. The baseline grid does not help, or do I understand it wrong?

Look at your right box Text Properties. In Columns & Text Distances you can set something like vertical alignment.

Yeah, Scribus folks finally implemented it . Many thanks for the hint, now I can take one off the list. Early January I was searching for hours for the feature since I had in mind that this was on the Scribus roadmap a while ago and that it should have landed before next release, but I was not able to find it. Luckily, the January project eventually did not require a vertical alignment, but my current project does, so this brings a big smile on my face. Thanks so much to you for pointing out and to Scribus folks for the implementation. Amazing. Made my day !
