Photography goals in 2026

My aim is (still) to take fewer, better pics, and spend less time culling and trying to restrict myself to 45-50 pics to actually process and deliver for each event.

So what did I do at the last concert? Took 167 frames. I did get it down to 54 of the concert plus 24 other, and the 24-other, I did very quick/basic edits

I really need to get better at this. The old 36-exposures discipline. Maybe I should go out with an 8gb card, instead of enough capacity that I don’t even have to think about it for months.

Another fun option for hyper-magnification is to use a manual wide angle lens, reverse mounted on extension tubes… (Edit: you can get various adaptor rings to mate the filter thread with the threads on some extension tubes)

One can even just hold the lens in place to try it, and if it’s a Pentax K or Nikon F without an aperture ring you can use a finger on the little aperture coupling lever in the mount to hold it partly open.

I feel there should be suitable term for this technique that reflects how dodgy it looks - have heard of freelensing used.

Thanks! Reverse lens macro photography with two lenses is planned, I will experiment with lenses and then if I consider sharpness acceptable, DIY an adapter for my lenses (instead of assembling one from 5 step-up rings, just use epoxy).

I’m intrigued - when I tried this I only used one lens (and the extension rings). research is indicated.

Yes - sounds good. I do occasionally find it strange when people go to extreme lengths to avoid a simple DIY job, but in this case I hadn’t thought about it.
I suppose just like everyone else I have my own internal biases and assumptions
