I am not saying this is what the OP wanted in the image, but I just did this edit for the heck of it using a single exposure. The shadow recovery was mainly achieved using the color balance rgb module in DT V4.5.

I wasn’t looking for anything specific, just curious what would be done. Your version (and mine as well) shows a little more visual detail than was immediately visible to my naked eye onsite, but that’s usually the way I work as well. Nice job.

EDIT…tone eq mask needs tweaked as there are some artifacts in the tips of the tree line… didn’t notice them originally…

Okay, my first try was to convert the three images in RT and then merge them in GIMP. Then the darkest image alone with some tone curves and weird saturation boost looked better than the merger - here it is
