Raw denoise at 50%. Changed color a lot, tight crop, accepted lot’s of noise. Bits of sharpen and loc.contrast. Frame, dt 5.6.1

Not sure what you meant by the “ouch” part. It wasn’t a slight towards your image. It was a genuine question for experienced users since that is a tricky photo situation.
I don’t see the advantage of full frame for this but yes more modern cameras have lower noise. Any advantage of full frame over crop sensor for noise is counter balanced by crop sensor having more DoF and being able to use larger apertures to let more light in. Pros and cons to both systems.
This picture was taken at F4 and that may have been wide open but if the aperture could have been opened more then more light would hit sensor and less noise.

@Jetze yes, I took it as a jab at my 20+ year equipment. It doesn’t resonate well when the data shows the camera and lens, models. If I could afford better equipment I would. But I don’t think it’s my responsibility to respond to a comment with self-deprecating humor about my bank account or my wife. You or the original commenter, could have just as easily said, “Bill, I don’t really think that was directed at you.” Problem solved early and up front. Criticism is fine, as long as the intended recipient is aware that it’s directed at them. At this point to keep from getting into a spat over something that should just be nothing, I will back out of the thread and say, Peace and Love to all, and I mean it.

No, it’s my fault. There was no earthly way you could have known. No guilt; I purchased the camera and lens with the money I got when my 1st wife and son passed away.
I can take it, but I think it was just a rotten-ass day. My sincere apologies for attacking you.

I really had to laugh when I saw your shot. You captured your dog in such a incredible position. Great!
Would a better camera have made a difference. For sure. But in the end it doesn’t matter. The important thing is to make the shot. Even the worst camera is better than no camera. Enjoying what you do, is what counts. The equipment alone doesn’t make good photos nor guarantee you joy on photography.
