some light editing of the darktablerc file is needed yes 
but nightlies should support this already.
Still not really officially supported by me but should work without issues: Change the rc file to:
plugins/darkroom/spektrafilm/ref=arctic_upsampling
plugins/darkroom/spektrafilm/repository=piratenpanda/darktable-spektrafilm
and hit the check for updates button in the module after a darktable restart.
Another method without changing the pack repo would be just downloading the pack from my repo and putting it into ~/.local/share/darktable/spektrafilm directly (without a pack or hash subfolder).
Both should work the same.
or of course create it yourself with the scripts in the repo So many possibilities
