I’m an amateur whose photographs have improved dramatically because of
geeqie->darktable->gimp.
It’s interesting how many (especially wildlife) photographers there are out there who think of themselves as professional, whose image editing skills are still far from it.
I’m not at a professional level yet either. But open source software is helping me on my way.
I think the only thing aging on my D7000 is the shutter, as the count advances. The camera doesn’t wrinkle, age-spot, lose hair (or gain hair in ungainly places), or any of the other age inflictions borne by the mechanism that’s pressing the shutter button…
