Having those available for video tutorials would be immensely useful. It would be great if that became standard.
I find both to be okay actually. Not so long ago, I recently shifted my workflow from Lightroom to Darktable. To be honest, when I first started out with Darktable, there were so much more options to explore. It got me intimidated for a bit. At least from my standpoint, video tutorials help newbies get their feet in the water. I notice that videos tend to be more personal, whereas text tutorials tend to be formal and too trimmed down. There’s just something about videos that tell viewers (especially newbies) “hey achieving this output is not as complicated as you think with this software, you just need to do this and that, you can even do this, and so forth”. Once I began to familiarize myself with the UI and general tools offered, I then resorted to online text guides, blogs, etc… These helped me get to know Darktable more and not feel intimidated by the plethora of text information. But what helped me the most is the time I took to explore and learn DT on my own. Lots of trial and error, but that’s how we learn.
