Unfortunately, your browser is unsupported. [Solved]

Oh, guys, what have you done!

My browser is Pale Moon. Partly because I don’t want to be trapped in the Chrome tunnel, and partly because of the aesthetics.

Now I see:

Unfortunately, your browser is unsupported. Please switch to a supported browser to view rich content, log in and reply.

Our popular open-source graphics forum is not supporting a popular open-source not-google-owned browser? That would be sad.

Pale Moon is updated regularly to maintain compatibility and to try to avoid the go-to-chrome traps. I was behind: I have now updated to latest version. But no go. :scream:

I’ve been getting the same message in stable Firefox since February. I’ve turned off all extensions, but it does not help. It’s the same on macOS and Linux (Flatpak). I keep Chromium around to be able to use the Pixls.us forum.

Sorry if this is a duplicate problem report. I did search. Obviously, not enough.

Odd though, that this only cropped up for me yesterday.

Err, wut?

I am using Firefox on OpenSuse Tumbleweed to view the site without any problems at all.

in general please report this issue on meta.discourse.org we do not change the list over what discourse does out of the box.

Firefox on win11 (up to date) is working ok, albiet laggy at times - but that’s probably my connection.

I realize it’s probably some about:config tweak that messes things up, but I’ve done enough troubleshooting. Strange thing that no other website seems to dislike my Firefox config. It’s just a Discourse thing.

Advice received from Pale Moon forum:

Add this rule to your adblocker:

https://discuss.pixls.us/assets/browser-detect-*

I works

Thanks! Worked for Firefox too. Actually it’s
https://discuss.pixls.us/assets/browser-detect-*
(on a new line), for anyone that wants to copy n paste.

I now use:
https://*/assets/browser-detect-*
to make every Discourse based forum work in my browser.

Thanks… I think I screwed up trying to post like “code.” I don’t know how to do that here.

You hit the “preformatted text” button.

Then everything looks like this... now I wonder why the this has turned bold...

Because the site tries syntax-highlighting, and this is a reserved keyword in some programming languages.

Try adding 4 spaces before each line (without any other formatting magic):

No syntax highlighting in this text.

None at all.

Thanks! That explains it.
