Wow…what a response. Many thanks to everyone who responded. What I will do is read the manual…twice then go through some YouTube walk through tutoring as I am not just new to DarkTable but photography as well. As suggested in this post, the above should avoid being overwhelmed as I can bite off bits slowly.
Again I must thank everyone who has helped and I will say that if this is the speed and great level of support then I am going to love using DT.

Try this for a quick intro – it’s for darktable v3, but substitute filmic with filmic rgb, color balance with color balance rgb, and you should be OK:

The introductory section of the user manual is largely based on that (darktable for dummies) post, but with some more optional modules and basic setup advice. Also if you use the guide in the user manual, you can contribute to improving it if you struggle with anything.
