Ghosteen is from 2019, how time flies… So I can’t really answer for this decade. For the last one it’s hard, I would have to think about it. Probably A Dramatic Turn of Events and something else. these past 5 years or so I’ve barely listened to anything really modern
This week I listened to a lot of tracks by Kotomi & Ryan Elder, who perform the original music for the cartoon Rick and Morti. I probably like it because it evokes the emotions of the episodes.
You gotta listen to the goddamn whole of Murder Ballads, said Stagger Lee.

Been listening to ‘Music for Psychedelic Therapy’ a lot. Ambient is very difficult to get right and I assume very personal too. For me Steve Roach, Brian Eno, Richard D. James, Hiroshi Yoshimura, etc, are kings and it’s very hard to find something that really clicks, and this is one of those cases where it really does.
With modern tech lots of musicians just throw some pads at a wall, coupled with a ton of delay and reverb and consider it done, but somehow it just feels flat and annoying. This is not one of those cases in my opinion. The nature/bird sounds elevate it to a whole new level and if anyone else here knows of more ambient with nature sounds, please share
Thomas Bergersen at the moment. This one just made my YT feed. Really like this guy’s stuff. ![]()

Really not to everyone’s taste:
some completely different branch of the huge metal tree: A cheesy power metal ballad featuring Sir Christopher Lee
(if you search for it, they also recorded an Italian, French and German version
)
My first reaction was that this sounds extremely like two steps from hell. Looking up the name, he was actually one of them ![]()
Indeed he is. First heard of 2SFH (Tom Bergersen) music from one of the Monkey King movies (don’t recall which one (song in question is Empire of Angels). Might as well share that song here as well since it’s epic. ![]()
At the moment Michael W Smith songs
Michael W. Smith is a pretty good artist, Sallyanne. When I’m not using SiriusXM (when I’m in the van), I usually can only stomach Christian pop/rock channel (prefer just instrumental music by the way; those type channels have long left where I live) and hear him often enough. Like NewWorldSon as well (particularly, Salvation Station).
edit: OK, had to share it now. lol
Just gets me uplifted each time I listen to this one. Believe someone made a Blues Brothers version of this song as well. ![]()
If you have seen my channel on YT you will know I like all types of music. Just depends how I feel on a certain day.
I quite often have Psyche - Goodbye Horses on repeat!
Effective use of the “Carousel” scene from Logan’s Run in the music video as well!
So, appearantly, these were the most played songs in my library in the last 30 days. Its an odd list. Links are to youtube.
