We went to see the ROH production of Siegfried last night, at our local community cinema.
A fantastic performance, running for a mere five and a quarter hours. We did get wine and smoked salmon sandwiches in one of the intervals though…

Well that was bizarre.
We went to see Die Fledermaus last night, done by Opera Bohemia, who take opera to venues across Scotland.
They transposed the opera to Glasgow, with the initial practical joke being on Sauchiehall Street, the ball to the Glasgow Locarno and the jail to Barlinnie prison.
Totally surreal, and extremely funny.
True story; my community (small town) band played an excerpt from Die Fledermaus. One of the hardest clarinet pieces I’ve ever played. Made a few mistakes I’ll admit, but the audience didn’t notice. lol

I like listening to László Burning’s “if it were written by” series. He is a virtuoso guitarist, and is eerily good at playing in the style of Mark Knopfler, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and others. “Layla, if it were written by Dire Straits” is a nice sample.

I have very recently discovered AJ Ghent - I never knew I could enjoy a reverb drenched slide guitar so much.
It’s so gentle but moving.
Listening to his new single My Secret Place right now.
Totally different context but in some ways it reminds me of Mark Knopfler on the gentler songs on his 2012 album Privateering - an old favorite of mine.

A total lack of respect from me here to all you old foggies here. What about Liza’s new video “Bad Angel”? Please don’t throw me off the forum for my love of modern music.
Well, everyone has different taste, so if you like this it is fine and I don’t think anyone minds that you post it here. Personally, to me it sounds like every other house/techno/electronica piece.
I would argue with calling it “modern music”, I am pretty sure I have seen stuff like this on MTV in the 1990s. Including, or especially, the video clip.
